  • Description

This is a UK first, the white rum being made from scratch from sugar cane juice that is import from Central America.

A sirop is created which is then ferment for three weeks and distil twice. This is NOT your usual pot stilled Molasses rum, a fine cane juice is used to produce a sweet, flavoursome rum.

It has a rich bouquet of ripe bananas and delicious dried fruit. It is smooth enough to drink just on ice, but has enough floral content to make a fabulous T-Punch or rock a Mojito, or with ginger beer to make a ‘Light & Stormy’.

What could be more fitting for the home of the Royal Navy, where rum was once issued to sailors as part of their daily rations, than for rum to be distilled at the Portsmouth Distillery by two ex-Navy officers?

1968 White Rum is at 41%, as we are in a pentagon Fort, and 4+1 = 5!

The Portsmouth Distillery Company is located in perhaps the most impressive piece of eighteenth-century military architecture in England – Fort Cumberland. Located on the southeastern corner of Portsea Island on the shingle spit known as Eastney Point.

The Fort was built to control the entrance to Langstone Harbour to the east, and to improve the defenses of Portsmouth Dockyard to the west.

They have lovingly restored two casemates within the fort, these were once used to store ammunition for Nelson’s Navy, to a state of the art/artisanal distillery, just yards from the lapping waters edge.
